More than an Art Auction Platform

Understanding the Users

Through surveys, interviews, and usability testing, I discovered that some of my initial assumptions were off the mark. User feedback provided valuable insights, reshaping my understanding of what features were most important to them. This process not only validated some of my ideas but also led to adjustments, ensuring the product to align more closely with the genuine needs and preferences of the users.

Jenny Miller, residing in a nursing home, faces isolation and a lack of engagement due to physical limitations. Existing solutions do not empower her to explore and invest in art, connect with a community, or contribute to cultural causes.

Problem Statement

George Subramanian struggles to seamlessly integrate art into his family life due to complexities in purchasing, such as concerns about shipping logistics and artwork sizing.

User’s Needs

Emerging artists often face the challenge of limited exposure in a saturated art market, making it difficult for them to showcase their work to a broader audience and gain recognition.

Limited  Exposure

Complex  Processes

Traditional art auction processes can be intimidating and complex, deterring potential buyers and creating a barrier for entry into the art collecting world.

Lack of Community

The absence of a direct and meaningful connection between artists and collectors hinders the establishment of a community.

Artistic Discoveries

Art enthusiasts may struggle to discover fresh and innovative artists due to the overwhelming volume of content available.

User Journey

Through the user journeys of Jenny and George, it is possible understanding the doubts and emotions each individual experiences at every step. This insight allows us to develop a more user-centered app, tailored to address the specific needs and concerns of each person along their journey.

Strating the Design

Now that the needs are clear, it is possible to structure a more precise information architecture where the content is informed by user research. This ensures that the app's structure and content align closely with the identified user needs, creating a more tailored and effective user experience.

The needs of Jenny and George are distinct. Jenny desires to immerse herself in the platform, be active in the community, and use ArtUnveil from a device that allows her to spend extended periods without fatigue. On the other hand, George, being a busy individual juggling family and work responsibilities, wishes to use ArtUnveil whenever he can, with the flexibility to connect from various devices.

The intention of the Desktop and Tablet version is to allow users to actively explore ArtUnveil, hence the texts are more extensive, and the content is explained in greater detail.

Meanwhile, with the Mobile version, the aim is to engage users, enabling them to use ArtUnveil even when they don't have access to a computer. Therefore, the texts are minimized, and more space is given to images.
