Users can uncover iconic landmarks, embark on recommended walks, glean insights from local tips, and actively contribute to the community, making SalzGuide more than just an app, it's a platform for shared experiences.

User-Centric Design

The primary goal of this application is to enchant users with a city rich in historical events yet still relatively unknown globally. Salzburg, often overshadowed by the fame of Mozart, holds much more behind its majestic façades than commonly known. The desire to unveil the city's rich historical and cultural heritage stemmed from a series of interviews conducted within Salzburg. This process revealed four distinct user types, each with unique needs and aspirations when visiting Salzburg. The definition of these personas became the cornerstone of the project, shaping an application specifically tailored for every category of explorer seeking the city's hidden wonders.

Defining who the users are is crucial for designing a product that is not only intuitive and easy to use but also captures users' attention. Understanding users' needs, behaviors, and expectations guides the creation of a design that seamlessly aligns with how they interact with the product. Additionally, conducting thorough user research is essential to avoid biases, which are preconceptions that could unduly influence the design in a non-representative manner. Rigorous research contributes to a more objective view, enabling the overcoming of stereotypes and the consideration of diverse user perspectives fairly and inclusively. In-depth investigation through user research thus becomes a fundamental pillar in shaping a product that not only meets but exceeds user expectations, eliminating potential distortions in understanding their actual needs.

The Users

The result of the analysis of the four personas highlights four distinct user types who would find the SalzGuide application useful: students, locals, tourists, and those visiting Salzburg for work purposes. The Color Palette

The color palette recalls the Austrian flag.

At the nucleus of our design philosophy lies the SalzGuide logo : a visual representation of the colors that paint the Austrian landscape. The red and white symbolize the Austrian flag, while the blue is a gentle nod to the Salzach River that gracefully meanders through Salzburg. It’s a visual connection with the city's identity.

Dive into the mood board, where a deliberate choice is made to embrace a cartoonesque tone. Rather than portraying photographic replicas of the monuments users are destined to explore. The aim is to infuse a youthful energy into the app, steering away from the conventional and inviting users into a visually engaging, fresh perspective of Salzburg.

Choosing illustrations over conventional imagery serves a dual purpose. Not only does it instill a sense of playfulness, making the app more approachable, but it also sidesteps the cliché representation of iconic landmarks. SalzGuide's illustrations aim to be a companion, a visual storyteller that invites users on a digital adventure through Salzburg's enchanting streets.
